Attendance
Denham Green E-ACT Primary Academy seeks to ensure that all its pupils receive a full-time education which maximises opportunities for each pupil to realise his/her true potential. The school will strive to provide a welcoming, caring environment, whereby each member of the school community feels wanted and secure. All school staff will work with pupils and their families to ensure each pupil attends school regularly and punctually.
The school will establish an effective system of incentives and rewards that acknowledges the efforts of pupils to improve their attendance and timekeeping and will challenge the behaviour of those pupils and parents who give low priority to attendance and punctuality.
To meet these objectives Denham Green E-ACT Primary Academy will establish an effective and efficient system of communication with pupils, parents and appropriate agencies to provide mutual information, advice and support.
Here is a table showing the impact of poor attendance and what it looks like in terms of missing school days and lessons.
For 1 year: Child’s attendance | How many days of education the child is missing | How many weeks of educations the child is missing | How many lessons a child is missing in a year | |
---|---|---|---|---|
95% | 9 days | 2 weeks | 50 lessons a year missed | |
90% | 19 days | 4 weeks | 100 lessons a year missed | |
86% | 29 days | 6 weeks | 150 lessons a year missed | |
80% | 38 days | 8 weeks | 200 lesson a year missed | |
75% | 48 days | 10 weeks | 250 lessons a year missed. |
Punctuality
Pupils can come into school from 8:30am and the school day starts promptly at 8:45am. Registers close at 9:00am and arrival at school after this time will be deemed as late. Lateness does affect your child’s attendance percentage. If you’re going to be late for school please do contact the school office on 01895 833369. Unexplained lateness will be investigated by the school.
Pupils leaving school early for any reason must report to the office before they go so that we can ensure that they are appropriately chaperoned and signed out. Registers are also taken when the children return to classes after lunch. If your child needs to attend a medical appointment, you will be required to provide the school with evidence. Failing to provide evidence of appointments will occur in an unauthorised absence. It is only the Headteacher who can authorise absences with sufficient evidence.
